Who is George’s father? Early researchers believed he was William Montgomery, while I tend to believe it was his brother, Jonathan Montgomery. Both brothers were Revolutionary War soldiers and both may have died in Carroll County, TN. From the information on William Montgomery’s Rev. War pension, William would not have been in SC when George (above) was born. There is evidence that William Montgomery had a son named George married to Nancy Montgomery, but this line is not that George Montgomery.
George Montgomery’s (married to Sarah Carson Jones) grandfather would be William Montgomery (2nd? wife Eady) d. Orange County, North Carolina leaving a will.

1 Robert Robison d. Mecklenburg, NC and is probably buried in Sugaw Creek Church Cemetery #2 near his wife’s grave. Robert Robison was brother-in-law to James McCall and James Wylie. The Patrick Calhoun family was also part of this group. These families traveled with their father-in-law, James Harris from Pennsylvania to the Augusta/Wythe County areas in Virginia. They were in the New River area of Virginia around the 1740’s. They took part in defending the frontier. After frequent Indian attacks most of the New River settlers moved further east or south to Mecklenburg, NC or South Carolina. Robert may have been the Robert Robnison owning property in the Beverly Grant in VA living near James Lusk/Loosk.. In the 1750’s, Robert Robison was granted property on Reedy Creek in Mecklenburg County, NC.
